Importing as moving goods within the EU is similar to regular import. The main difference is that importing as moving goods can provide many financial benefits that you can take advantage of. Furthermore, there are different technical requirements for admitting the motor vehicle as moving goods compared to regular import. These requirements are often less stringent, allowing you to continue enjoying the vehicle you are accustomed to using abroad.

Moving goods exemption conditions

Busy preparing to move to the Netherlands? To obtain tax exemption upon import, you must meet the following conditions:

• You are moving from another EU country to the Netherlands.
• This vehicle is part of your household effects.
• You use this vehicle for the same purpose as in the foreign country.
• You have owned and used the vehicle for at least 6 months in the country from which you are moving to the Netherlands.
• You do not lend, pawn, rent, or transfer the vehicle within 12 months from the date the goods are imported.
